Gaishikei Urawaza Eigo is a weekly podcast that teaches business English to a Japanese-speaking audience. It is a three-person operation, featuring Japanese comedian Terumi Ishii and BJ Fox, an expat comedian from the UK based in Tokyo, and myself as the producer.

While in principle an audio podcast, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, from episode 28 we recorded remotely and also edited each episode as a video podcast for the YouTube channel, and several episodes used sketches to illustrate the teaching points. Several of these skits were also animated using Adobe Character Animator, culminating in a 4-part mini series to commemorate the 100th episode milestone.
The audio for the 4-part series was recorded remotely, and put together using Illustrator, Character Animator, After Effects, and Premiere. It is a mini soap opera drama playing out over video conference calls, that uses many of the phrases covered in the podcast over the previous 100 episodes.
